Please Join Business Philanthropist Peter Grandich On His Quest to Help Give 69-Year-Old Quadriplegic Larry Lindstrom A New Lease on Life

100% of your donation through 5HelpFoundation will go towards helping Larry integrate into the community by being able to move from his long-term care facility in Manchester, NJ to obtain an accessible apartment near a downtown and public transportation. Your donations will also help him retrieve personal items from a storage facility and obtain adaptive devices and assistive technology.

After reading Larry's story, Wall Street Philanthropist, Peter Grandich, reached out to Mr. Jerry Carino, who wrote an APP article about Larry on 6/7/24 and said, "I would like to help Larry Lindstrom by pledging to raise a minimum of $5,000 as noted in your article today https://www.app.com/story/news/local/how-we-live/2024/06/07/larry-lindstrom-motorized-wheelchair-aristacare/74000419007/ and I would like to do it through https://5help.org/ You will recall we did this before together. Previously, Mr. Grandich was instrumental in working with Mr. Carino and 5Help Foundation to raise over $20,000 for a veteran who lost his home to an HOA Veterans Home Torn Apart/Cat Left For Dead

Peter Grandich is asking his friends, followers, and clients to donate with a target goal of $10,000. He will donate whatever part of $5,000 that isn't reached.

Here is part of Larry's Story:

Larry Lindstrom has always advocated for others, spending 17 years teaching accessible transportation for people with disabilities at Rutgers University. He loves being outdoors in nature, enjoys travel to conferences of interest, beaches, and other state natural attractions. Larry has an avid interest in roadways and highways. Even now, after becoming paralysed in 2021 and requiring a power wheelchair to live independently, Larry is still advocating for others by sharing his story and pursuing independence, and needs your support!

After his injury in 2021, Larry was transferred from Kessler Institute, one of the best SCI rehab centers in the country, to a nursing home in New Jersey, where he was without a wheelchair for nearly three years because New Jersey Laws failed to require the private companies responsible for his care and wheelchair to follow through on their federal obligation to provide him one. Through the help of advocates and the media, Larry now has a loaner wheelchair, and is working through a complex insurance processes to acquire a permanent wheelchair fitted for him.

Community members are now fundraising for Larry to help him move out of a nursing home and back into the community, where he will need to rely on assistive technology and many adaptive devices to live independently with caregiving support. Fundraisers for Larry will support him in purchasing the following types of equipment and supplies, among others:
  • Accessible smartphone / computer / dictation software and accessories
  • Adaptive recreation equipment
  • Adaptive vehicle
  • Medical supplies not covered by insurance
  • Home modifications
  • Accessible furniture
  • Smart devices for home and environment management, etc.

Please donate to help Larry achieve greater independence and continue advocating for others who have found themselves in similar situations. Thank you so much for your generosity and support!

Peter Grandich's philanthropic efforts have helped many throughout the years and very much likes doing these local, direct situations, that fall through cracks and aren’t big-time fundraising candidates. He felt that Larry's situation deserved all the support he could get. For more information on Peter Grandich www.petergrandich.com.
